Kuningan District located at the coordinates 108 ° 23-108 ° 47 east longitude and 6 ° 47-7 ° 12 south latitude. While the capital is located at the coordinates 6 ° 45-7 ° 50 south latitude and 105 ° 20-108 ° 40 east longitude.

The eastern part of the district is lowland, while in the western part of the mountains, with the peak of Mount Ceremai (3,076 m) on the border with Majalengka. Ceremai mountain is the highest mountain in West Java.

Judging from its geographical position is located in the eastern part of West Java is on track regional road that connects the city of Cirebon with Priangan East region and as an alternative to the middle lane road that connects Bandung-Java with Central Java. In the administrative borders with

Topography

Soil surface is relatively flat District Kuningan with variations mainly Kuningan hilly western and southern parts have a height ranging from 700 meters above sea level, up to a rather low-lying like Kuningan eastern region with an altitude between 120 meters to 222 meters in above sea level.

Altitude in a place having an influence on air temperature, therefore the height is among the factors that determine the pattern of land use for agriculture, for each type of plant requires a certain temperature according to the characteristics of the plant in question.

The slope of the land owned by the District Kuningan consists of: plains, plateaus, hills, slopes, valleys and mountains. The character has a landscape that is quite beautiful and the air is cool, very high potential for tourism development.

Most of the ground textures including depth and texture are a small portion including a smooth texture. These conditions affect the level of low sensitivity and very high fraction of the erosion.

The level of sensitivity to erosion caused by a mismatch between the use of land with its ability to undermine the process of physics, chemistry and biology of the soil. Some of the factors that influence the size of the intensity of density against erosion are factors: slope, cultivation systems, tillage, soil type and percentage of ground cover.

Sensitivity level of erosion in Kuningan District are classified into five classes, namely:

Highly Sensitive: 14258.42 ha

Sensitive: 17568.96 ha

Somewhat Sensitive: 20473.43 ha

Less Sensitive: 21845.69 ha

Insensitive: 36307.00 ha
